Video and Photo Gallery: Rajesh Khanna laid to rest in presence of thousands fans and Bollywood celebrities, grandson Aarav lit pyre


MUMBAI, India (Thu, Jul 19) – India’s first superstar Rajesh Khanna was laid to rest today in Paramhans crematorium in Vile Parle. Thousands of fans gathered to pay their last tribute to legendary Bollywood star who passed away in Mumbai after a protracted illness on Wednesday (July 18).

The funeral procession of superstar started at about 10:15 am (LOCAL TIME) on Thursday morning and reached the crematorium at around 11:00 am. Fans threw flowers at the glass casket in which Khanna’s body was kept and walked along with the procession that carried the body of the star.

Accompanying the star on his final journey was his separated wife, actress Dimple Kapadia, elder son-in-law , younger daughter Rinkee Khanna, her husband Sameer Saran and grandson Aarav. The last rites were performed by Khanna’s elder daughter Twinkle Khanna, her husband Akshay Kumar and their son Aarav.

"Aarav lit the pyre and Akshay Kumar assisted him," the late superstar`s close friend Vijay Zaveri.

Despite the rain, besides thousands of fans gathered to pay tribute to Bollywood`s first superstar Rajesh Khanna. Celebrities like Karan Johar, Rani Mukerji, Kareena Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor,Abhishek Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan were also present at the crematorium.

Shahrukh Khan: Filmi Don or Cricket villain – To be decided by Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA)

MUMBAI, India (Fri, May 18) – Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, aka King Khan, may face an entry ban in Mumbai cricket stadium as a consequence of a fight with stadium security staff and officials during an Indian Premier League (IPL 2012) match on Wednesday night.

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is scheduled to hold a meeting today (Friday, May 18) to discuss a move to ban Shahrukh Khan from entering Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.

Vilasrao Deshmukh, the president of MCA, had said earlier that there was a suggestion before the association to ban Mr Khan from entering the stadium. Deshmukh will preside the MCA meeting today to decide on the issue.

Shahrukh Khan Breaks His Rib While His 'Don 2' Breaks Box Office Records in North America

MUMBAI, India (Jan. 04) – Bollywood’s King Khan is not having a very great new year as it is reported that Shahrukh Khan hurt his ribs while playing soccer with his daughter Suhana during their new year holidays visit in Dubai.

 On the other hand; SRK’s ‘Don 2’ is making big leaps on box office, especially in North America. The movie has grossed a whopping $3.3 million through January 2 exceeding $2.5 million of Khan’s superhero flick Ra.One and also grossed more than Salman Khan’s 2011 hits Bodyguard and Ready – combined.

The movie has also set a new standard record for the all-time biggest opening week for a Bollywood movie in North America collecting $2.64 million beating the $2.55 million that Shahrukh’s My Name is Khan earned in its first seven days in February 2010.

The action thriller Don 2, starring Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles, was released in 3,105 theatres in India and also had a wonderful beginning in the domestic Box Office. According to koimoi.com, Don 2 made Rs 19.16 crore over its second weekend taking its two week total to Rs 94.48 crore (all-India net collections).
