Jagjit Singh Passed Away at 70 in Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai

Famous Indian singer Jagjit Singh has passed away today (Monday, Oct. 10) morning at Lilavati hospital in Mumbai at the age of 70. Popularly known as the "Ghazal King", Singh sang in a number of languages.


Jagjit Singh, who was famed for his semi-classical Ghazal songs, suffered from a stroke in September and had been in a coma in hospital ever since.

India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Monday expressed his condolence on the death of noted ghazal singer Jagjit Singh, saying he would be remembered for his "golden voice".

Noting that he is among Jagjit's admirers, the Prime Minister said he shared the sorrow of his fans
He is survived by his wife, Chitra Singh, who herself is also a leading ghazal singer. They had commercial success with songs recorded together in the 1970s and 1980s.


Singh's admirers say he revolutionised ghazal music and made it accessible to the wider public.

He also sang tracks for a number of popular movies, including Sarfarosh.

He was the first prominent ghazal singer from India in a genre dominated by Pakistani singers.

"He was the first real ghazal singer from India. Before him there were clones. The poetry in his music was beautiful," actor Anupam Kher said in a tribute.




"His music was gentle, soothing and went to your heart."

Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas said that Singh had made ghazal so accessible that his audiences "could sing along with him".

Jagjit Singh recorded more than 50 albums, many of them major commercial successes.

Shahrukh Khan Managed Big B's Name Associated with Ra.One Project



MUMBAI, India (Oct. 8) – As the release of Bollywood’s superhero flick “Ra.One” is coming closer; it is managing to capture more attractions associated with it.

According to a latest media report; the legendary Amitabh Bachan (aka Big B) has been engaged by Shahrukh Khan for a voiceover to introduce a game based on the Ra.One. The latest engagement by Bollywood’s megastar Big B followed Rajinikanth guest act in mega-budget movie featuring Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor.

Big B, famous for his distinctive vocal tone, arrived on Thursday morning to do a voiceover for the movie. He left Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty surprised by his skill and dexterity.

"He came and finished his work in no time. We wanted him to introduce the game 'RA.One' in the film in his voice. His presence has changed the whole film. I wanted to have Amitji involved in our film somehow. Now the introduction of the game is in his voice. This is the best way I could bring Amitji into the project," said Pookutty.

Mr. Bachan has earlier been involved with Khan's production house when he did a cameo role in "Paheli". Khan and Bachan have also acted together in three blockbusters "Mohabbatein", "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" and "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna".

I will give up smoking after 'Ra.One' releases: Shahrukh Khan




MUMBAI, India – Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan's earlier efforts to quit smoking couldn’t materialize positively; but now King Khan again shows his intentions to say good bye to cigarettes and smoking after the release of his superhero flick 'Ra.One'.

The new superhero of Hindi cinema talking to media during a promotional event of his movie said, "I want to give up smoking and will soon do it. Even my daughter keeps on asking me when I will quit it. I will give up the habit after 'Ra.One' releases."

Ra.One claims to show ten curses in the world and smoking is also a curse, which affects the health of an individual.

"There is one scene in Ra.One, which speaks about the ill-effects of cigarettes, which is in the form of conversation between father and son," Khan further said.




Even, on 'World No Tobacco Day', Shahrukh Khan had said he would try to give up this dangerous habit.
